The third chakra in our main seven is the solar plexus chakra. In Sanskrit, it is called Manipura. Manipura means “resplendent gem” or “lustrous gem”. It connects to the ego, sense of purpose, will, personal power and autonomy, physical and emotional power and identity. A balanced solar plexus chakra brings harmony, protection and comfortability with the self and with others.
It is located above the navel in the solar plexus and vibrates a yellow vortex both radiating through the front and back. It’s element is fire which can be thought of the power of transformation. Physically, it governs digestion and metabolism. A healthy solar plexus eliminates pancreas-kidney and adrenal function issues. A weak solar plexus can result in incomplete food digestion, unhealthy portrayal of thoughts and emotions and form toxins in the body. It can also accumulate into blood sugar (Glycemic) issues, liver problems and ulcers. It affects our sense of purpose and ability to make decisions. Descriptions of a balanced vs imbalanced solar plexus will be discussed below as well as advice on how to maintain it.

Healing the Solar Plexus Chakra
It’s recommended to do regular chakra check-ins. You can begin with the first (root) and work your way up. The solar plexus is third. Envision it’s yellow wheel opening clockwise. Wear yellow or visualize yellow, warm energy during meditation. The solar plexus is related to the element fire. Spend time around fire, meditate by candles (or try candle gazing), sit at a bonfire, allow in the light and let it renew, calm and energize you.
The sound associated with the solar plexus chakra is “ram,” hum or chant this. It measures 320 Hz which you can find meditational binaural beat frequencies to on YouTube. Meditate also to the sounds of fire crackling. Essential oils that work for the solar plexus include juniper, cedarwood, cardamom, vetiver and lemon. Yoga is healing for all of the chakras. Hatha yoga is specifically recommended for the health of the solar plexus. Yoga positions that aid in it’s health include Warrior 1 & 2, Reverse Warrior, Sun Salutations, Boat Pose and Plank Pose. Crystals vibrate at their own frequency and can aid in healing as well. Try citrine, amber, tigers eye and yellow jasper. Yellow foods like bananas can be of aid. Also eat plenty of grains and spices such as ginger and turmeric.
